July 22, 2020 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Westchester United FC as its newest Division I member.
Based in Mount Kisco, NY, Westchester United FC will begin UPSL play in the 2020 Fall Season as part of the American Division I. The club is finalizing its home venue in compliance with UPSL National Division I standards.
UPSL Empire Division Manager Paul Konneh said, "Westchester United FC is a good team that has produced strong results and we're happy to have them join the UPSL's Northeast Conference. The club has a lot of experience in player development, both here in the United States and in Europe, and they've made the most of their connections to find places for their players to begin professional careers. We're looking forward to seeing Westchester United FC play in the UPSL."
Antonio Corrado is the Technical Director of Westchester United FC. A native of New York, Corrado attended the New York Red Bulls Academy prior to heading to Europe where he played professionally in Italy and Germany for five years. He holds a Master's degree from NYU and is currently the men's soccer head coach at SUNY-Purchase College.
"We wanted to create a professional pyramid for players to grow from within while also giving them opportunities to play abroad. We accomplished this by partnering with Ranger FC of the Scottish Premier League and by competing in the prestigious Viareggio Cup in Italy," Corrado said. "Now there is a need to provide players 18- to 24-years-old the chance to play as consistently as possible and at a level that will aid in their professional development. This is the reason why we've chosen the UPSL."
Westchester United FC's youth teams compete in the Elite Development Program (EDP) and the ENYYSA/USYSA National Championship Cups.
"At Westchester United FC our goal has always been to provide players with as many opportunities to compete at the highest level while also broadening their perspective of soccer. As we approach our five-year anniversary we are proud of being able to accomplish many of the goals we set for ourselves," Corrado said. "These past few months have been difficult and we want to rise to the occasion to provide a Pro Development team that will give players the opportunity to play as much as possible throughout the year."
Michael Corrado, Sr., is Honorary President of Westchester United FC. Daniel Panella is General Manager and Director of Scouting. Michael Corrado, Jr., is Assistant Coach and Team Manager. Katelyn Corrado is Club Administrator and Karanja Elliot is the Director of Marketing and Communication.
